YAKUMO
The Limited Express YAKUMO offers a scenic and comfortable journey through the beautiful landscapes of western Japan, connecting Okayama with Matsue and Izumo in the San’in region. The route winds through the mountains of the Chūgoku region and follows the graceful curves of the Hii River, offering passengers breathtaking views of valleys, forests, and countryside villages along the way.Operated with newly introduced 273 series tilting trains, the YAKUMO provides a smooth and stable ride even on curvy mountain sections. The trains feature spacious seating, large panoramic windows, and upgraded interiors designed for both comfort and relaxation throughout the journey.
The service connects major destinations such as Okayama, Kurashiki, Matsue, and Izumo. Travelers can explore Matsue’s historic castle town, visit the sacred Izumo Taisha Shrine, or enjoy the scenic beauty of Lake Shinji and the Shimane coast.

Seat types
- The trains are usually operated with 4-car formations, but during busy seasons, 8-car formation are used.
- When operated with an 8-car formation, passengers can pass between Cars No.4 and No.5.
1st class
The driver's cab side of Car No. 1 and No.5 is the first-class section, called the "Green Car". All seats are reserved. They feature a 1+2 seating layout, offering comfort even on long journeys.
2nd class
All cars (excluding 1st class) are 2nd class, with a 2+2 seating layout.
2nd class (Semi-compartment)
Certain areas in Cars No.1 and No.5 are semi-compartment seats. There are compartments for two passengers and for four passengers (available for groups of three or four). The fare is the same as that of a reserved seat in the second-class, and no additional charge is required.

- The stops of the trains vary depending on the train.
- ▲ indicates stations where only some trains stop.
- At Okayama Station, passengers can transfer to the SANYO SHINKANSEN, as well as the Limited Express SUPER INABA, SHIOKAZE, and NANPU.
- At Yonago and Izumoshi Stations, transfers are available to the Limited Express SUPER OKI and SUPER MATSUKAZE.
- Many local trains also operate between Okayama and Kurashiki.
- Between Yonago and Izumoshi, in addition to the YAKUMO, the Limited Express SUPER OKI and SUPER MATSUKAZE are also operated.

- Children aged 6 to under 12 pay half of the adult fare for 2nd class seats. Children under 6 travel free, but a child fare is required if a seat is reserved.
- The following fares are standard fares. During busy seasons, an additional ¥400 applies. During off-peak seasons, ¥200 is discounted.

OKAYAMA
